July’s LED Writer!

We’re proud to present our first winner for the Literature Emitting Diodes: Surabhi Kanga! Congrats, Surabhi!

Born and raised in India, Surabhi Kanga is a writer and journalist whose work deals with everything from death to deodorant. In her writing, she tries to investigate the evolution of contemporary culture, and its links to identity, politics and social justice issues. Kanga has a Masters degree in New Arts Journalism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also dabbles in comics, comedy and film making, and is currently based in New Delhi.

Her work will be posted in a Chicago storefront for about three weeks starting in July. Check back to find out where you can see her work on an LED screen.

Awesome Grant

Awesome_Foundation_LogoWe are incredibly excited and truly honored to announce that Literature Emitting Diodes has been selected for a grant from the Chicago Chapter of the Awesome Foundation.

In addition to the LED display itself, the grant will help fund the printed anthology of the writing, which will be collected and produced after 12 months.

The Awesome Foundation has also created a page for us at their website, which will be updated as the project progresses.

We are so grateful for the support from our community, and eager to share some great writing with Chicago!
