We had a great time celebrating the culmination of the Columbia Daily Tribune’s LED Writing Contest at Makes Scents!
We heard readings from our winner, Rebecca Pelky, and both runners up, Ida Bettis Fogle and Mike Robertson. Makes Scents served up a delicious selection of snacks and wine, and offered 20% everything in the store just for the event!
Makes Scents owner, and host extraordinaire, Christina Kelly, welcomes everyone with delicious refreshments and delightful conversation.
Linda Hays, Marketing Manager at the Columbia Daily Tribune, kicks things off with some inspiring ideas about arts in the Columbia community.
LED co-founder Levi Sherman introduces one of the contest’s fabulous judges, Jennifer Maritza McCauley.
Contest judge Jennifer Maritza McCauley shares what drew her and Aarik Danielsen to the pieces they selected.
Runner up Mike Robertson reads his submitted poem, “A Spider’s Song”.
Ida Bettis Fogle reads her submission “First Time Out” in addition to some fantastic previously published writing.
Contest winner Rebecca Pelky starts by thanking Makes Scents, and then reading a great selection of recent poems.
We were thrilled to have an attentive, supportive (and well-fed) audience!
